About Me
Hi, I'm Sofia Dasilva.
I am a competitive varsity soccer, cross country, and track & field athlete, as well as the founder of The Athlete Wellness Project. Experiencing the physical demands of multi-sport competition inspired me to further understand the biomechanics of athletic longevity and injury prevention. Beyond analyzing literature, I collaborate with local physical therapists and athletic trainers to answer questions about optimizing performance while protecting one's long-term health.
Why This Project Exists
As a high school athlete, I noticed a massive gap between complex sports science literature and the actual training/recovery advice given to student-athletes. I used to find most of my recovery tips from social media trends rather than research-backed methods. I created The Athlete Wellness Project to bridge that gap. I analyze peer-reviewed literature on kinesiology, neuroscience, and injury prevention- translating dense academic papers into to actionable, data-driven protocols for high school competitors.

What I Explore

Biomechanics
How movement, force, and mechanical interactions shape athletic performance.

Neuroscience
How the nervous system controls movement, coordinates complex actions, and adapts through learning and training.

Sports Medicine
How researchers investigate sports injuries, rehabilitation, recovery, and athlete health.

Physiology
How the body responds to exercise, fatigue, training, and recovery.
